Throw Away Votes?
Jan. 18, 2008
Some voters choose to forget about the candidate they would really like to win and cast their ballots for the one they “think” will win. Often, they try to justify doing this by saying they don’t want their vote to be “wasted.”
Veteran poll watchers have another name for such voting - everyone wants to claim they “backed the winner.”
Usually, the voter decides that his or her candidate (the one with whom they really agree most of the time) doesn’t stand much of a chance, and they opt to make a choice for the lesser of the two remaining evils. Neither choice gives them the government they want, but they decide on devil #1 or devil #2. They subsequently get what they deserve!
Over the history of this nation, the people have steadily realized that they never seem to get the people into office that they would really prefer. Could it be this asinine attitude that they should “back a winner” instead of “creating a winner?”
Throw away votes are those cast for Devil #1 and Devil #2. We get the government we deserve!
Bush Seeks Halo!
Jan. 18, 2008
President George W. Bush is making a few trips to Israel and Palestine and says he wants to broker a peace deal “this year.” He has had 7 years in which to broker such a deal (if it can be done) but has virtually ignored that volatile situation - until now!
What’s the rush? President Bush will, without a doubt in any non-ultra conservative mind, go down in history as the worst president this nation has ever had. We think he might realize this and is making this last ditch effort to accomplish something as remote as peace between Israel and Palestine. If it appears they make a deal, George W. Bush will take bows and hold the halo around his head as he leaves office next year. Of course, former Presidents have played this game before and the leadership of Palestine and Israel are always happy to go along - until the next guy takes office.
The questions we have are:
How much is Bush promising to pay these countries to make a peace deal this year?
Will the money be paid by the U.S. Treasury (via more inflation) or will Daddy (George H.W.) and Dick Cheney use Halliburton money to pay the costs?
Will Halliburton pay the money before it moves its headquarters from Texas to the protection of Dubai, or will they pay it after they move?
