Something Is Wrong!

While a large portion of U.S. grain production is now going to produce ethanol as a supposed way to reduce our consumption of crude for gasoline, we continue to pay farmers (including agricultural corporations formed under NAFTA) to leave farm acreage dormant - and we continue to pay corporate farmers to not grow crops!
With a shortage of grain the cost of food is going up along with the cost of diesel fuel the farmers use to grow the products and truckers and railroads use to deliver the food products - and we continue to pay corporate farmers to not grow crops!
The U.S. is the largest single supplier of charitable foods being shipped to under-privileged nations like the Haiti, Bangladesh and many African nations. Since “food” production in the U.S. has declined by 40 percent, the charity shipments to those countries has also been reduced - and we continue to pay corporate farmers to not grow crops!
As a result, people are starving and food riots have broken out in many distribution centers - and we continue to pay corporate farmers to not grow crops!
This past week President George Bush announced that he now wants to use inflated U.S. dollars to buy crops from other agricultural producing nations so we can send those crops to the starving nations - and we continue to pay corporate farmers to not grow crops!
